Program Description:

Civitas**OPEN TO CIVITAS STUDENTS ONLY**

Civitas Vocation projects serve as an honors thesis that also speaks to Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s ideal of “vocation:” the calling not merely to a profession but to a life of responsibility and deputyship to others and our surroundings.  While your project will likely be done in your major, it should also address the role of deputyship, pertinence, justice and freedom in responsible citizenship.

Every year, Civitas awards research funding to graduating seniors to be used in completing their Vocation projects. Some students choose to use this funding to conduct research abroad, usually during the January interim semester.  In order to do so and in accordance with the University's risk management policy, you must register in our study abroad.  Please contact the International Programs Office with any questions, and reach out to William Swart (william.swart@augie.edu), Director of Civitas, to learn more about 395 funding opportunities.
