Program Description:
Nauplion Greece   santorini

Description
Friends and alumni are invited to join Augustana faculty members Dr. David O'Hara and Dr. Rocki Wentzel on a trip of a lifetime to Greece. Each year a handful Augustana students have the privilege of traveling to Greece with Dr. Wentzel and Dr. O'Hara, who describe Greece as their "favorite classroom." This summer, Dr. Wentzel and Dr. O'Hara are making this experience available to Augustana alumni and the broader Augustana community. Together we will see the majestic ruins of ancient Athens and visit archaeological sites and museums throughout the country, including Delphi, Nemea, Mycenae, Sounion, and Epidauros. We will travel by private bus throughout the mainland, and to several Mediterranean islands by ferry. We will see the site where Socrates was tried, and our tour will take us to the Areopagus, where St. Paul first preached the Gospel to the ancient philosophers, and to Corinth, where St. Paul lived for a year and a half. Each day we will visit ancient temples, theaters, and fortresses, with scenic vistas of breathtaking beauty as a backdrop. And since no visit to Greece would be complete without sampling its excellent cuisine, we will take time to visit some of Greece's excellent wineries, scenic small towns, and restaurants.

Cost Information
The tour costs $4,000.  The fee includes daily breakfast, double occupancy accommodations in 3-4 star tourist class hotels, 9 meals, winery visit and tasting, folk dancing demonstration, tour guide services, hydrofoil tickets, entrance fees to museums and tourist sites, all gratuities and hotel taxes, all local transportation (including airfare between Athens and Santorini), and airport transfers.
**The cost does not include airfare to and from Greece or single-occupancy hotel rooms (available with a $595 single supplement fee).**

Suggested donation to IPO Study Abroad Annual Scholarship: $500/person or $750/couple
Augustana has a strong culture of study away, sending 200+ students to overseas and domestic locations each year. Scholarship opportunities make this possible. Your donation will allow students with financial need to participate in what is often their first significant travel experience. We thank you for your consideration!
