Academic Overview
The University of Exeter is consistently ranked as one of the top 10 institutions in the UK, and one of the top 1% of institutions of higher education worldwide and was awarded University of the Year 2012-13 by The Sunday Times. The University is a multidisciplinary institution with strengths in the sciences, humanities and social sciences.  Exeter offers research led teaching with professors who are at the forefront of their fields and who are passionate about creating an environment of active learning in the classroom.  Study abroad students are able to select modules from over 30 different undergraduate majors.  With over 17,000 students, including 4,000 non-UK students from over 130 different countries, the University is large enough to offer the wide array of courses and facilities that one would expect in a major university, yet small enough to maintain a friendly and personalized atmosphere.

Anthropology majors at Augustana College are required to spend one year abroad (typically the junior year) at the University of Exeter.  Please consult the Augustana Anthropology Department for further details about this requirement.

Exeter is located in southwest England, a short 2 1/2 hour train ride away from London.  The campus is one of the most beautiful in all of England and offers a unique environment in which to live and study with lakes, parks and gardens to enjoy throughout the year.  The University completed a new £50 million centerpiece, the Forum, in May 2012.  The Forum is a student-focused space incorporating a new Student Services Centre, refurbished library, retail and catering outlets and technology-rich learning spaces including a 400 seat auditorium, two 60-seater exploration labs and 12 seminar rooms.  Exeter city center is a short 15 minute walk from campus, while the seaside is only a 15 minute train ride away.

The University of Exeter offers university accommodations in either catered dormitories that serve breakfast and dinner daily or self-catered apartments with cooking facilities where you can prepare your own meals.

Consult the Tuition Fees and Living Costs section of the University of Exeter website.  Please also see the Costs and Finances section of Augustana's StudioAbroad site for further details.
