Academic Overview
From exemplary learning to a campus experience packed with cultural and social opportunities, Lancaster University is one of the very best places to live, learn and experience the UK. Ranked in the top one percent of universities worldwide, Lancaster University's reputation attracts bright minds from all over the world. Their innovative and pioneering programs are taught by experts at the forefront of their specialist fields, giving students access to the best teaching experience possible. Lancaster is a collegiate university comprised of eight undergraduate residential colleges. As such, Lancaster offers a wide range of courses in more than 30 departments including the arts, social sciences, humanities, natural and physical sciences, computing and IT, and creative and performing arts. With more than 12,000 students from over 100 countries, Lancaster offers a study abroad program that is fully integrated with the life of the university. Study abroad students live and study alongside international and UK students throughout their time at Lancaster.

The Michaelmas term (October to December for 12 US semester credits) is the rough equivalent of Augustana's fall semester. A student wishing to earn more than 12 credits is encouraged to also enroll in a 4 week International Summer Programme (mid-August to mid-September for 4 US semester credits) which is offered exclusively to Study Abroad students. For the spring semester, students enroll in both the Lent and Summer terms which run from January to June for 16-20 US semester credits.

Location
Lancaster is a relatively small but buzzing city which is easily accessible from campus. Just 3 miles from campus, students will find plenty of shopping, places to eat, drink and dance, an annual literature festival, cinemas and a theatre in Lancaster. Excellent road and rail links give students easy access to the beautiful and dramatic Lake District National Park and the cosmopolitan cities of Manchester, Liverpool, London, and Edinburgh. The area's diverse mix of city, coast, and countryside adds a whole new dimension to the study abroad experience.

Housing
All students at Lancaster, including study abroad and exchange students, are members of one of Lancaster's nine residential colleges. Each college offers accommodation, leisure, and social activities. You are guaranteed accommodation on campus if you apply by the deadline. Lancaster's accommodations have won various environmental awards and the university was awarded the "Best University Halls" title in the 2016 National Student Housing Survey. In the residence halls, standard rooms have shared bathrooms but rooms with an ensuite bathroom are available at an additional cost. All accommodations are single rooms and are self-catering (meaning that students are responsible for preparing their own food in the well-equipped kitchens in each residence hall).

Costs
Consult Lancaster University's Cost & Accommodation.  Please also consult the Costs and Finances section of Augustana's StudioAbroad site for further details.
